Volleyball Remains Perfect in Conference Play

BOSTON, MA: The Rivier women's volleyball team took down another GNAC opponent this evening on the road against Emmanuel College by a score of 3-0, with sets scores of 25-11, 26-24, 25-19.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/13/2021

- Score: Rivier 3, Emmanuel 0

- Records: Rivier (11-5, 8-0 GNAC), Emmanuel (7-11, 2-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders opened the match with a dominant first set, winning it 25-11. In that set, they put together 12 kills on just three errors for a respectable .346 kill percentage. Set two and three were closer bouts, but Rivier prevailed behind another outstanding performance by junior outside hitter Lily Blodgett (Dunstable, MA). Blodgett finished the match with another game high of 17 kills along with three blocks. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) had another well-rounded match with 34 assists, six service aces, three kills, and five digs.

- Defensively for Rivier libero Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) tied with defensive specialist Olivia Garand (Litchfield, NH) with 11 digs each.   

- For Saints, Seana Phillips had the team high of ten kills, with Rachel Coleman putting together a 23 assist night. On defense, Tatiana Correia finished with a match high 14 digs for Emmanuel.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Assists: Rivier 36, Emmanuel 25

-  Digs: Rivier 38, Emmanuel 36

UP NEXT:

- Women's volleyball will be back in action this weekend when they head to Colby-Sawyer for a GNAC tri-match with them and Anna Maria College. The Raiders will play Colby-Sawyer at 11 am and Anna Maria at 1 pm.
