Women's Volleyball Drops Nail Biter with Plymouth State

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier University women's volleyball team dropped a five set match this evening against non-conference opponent Plymouth State 3-2 with set scores of 25-17, 25-21, 17-25, 19-25, and 14-16.

 THE BASICS:

- Score: Plymouth 3, Rivier 2. Set scores (25-17, 25-21, 17-25, 19-25, and 14-16)

- Records: Plymouth (15-0), Rivier (7-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead to start the match. In the first two sets, Rivier was firing on all cylinders with Lily Blodget (Dunstable, MA), Lily Sills (Carlisle, MA), and Cadia Greene (North Kingstown, RI) swinging well. Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) tallied 44 assists, five kills, and ten digs helping the Raiders offense. Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) manned the defense this evening with 19 digs.  

-  The Panthers would go on a huge run to stay perfect on the season, winning three straight sets to take it. After dropping the first two sets, Plymouth went on a tear behind Nora Ryan and Lilli Stogner, who combined for 31 kills. Ryan had the team high of 16 kills, with Stronger finishing with 14. Alexa Price matched Pollard with 44 assists on the day. Marissa Plaza racked up the digs this evening for the Panthers. Her defense played a key role in the team's success against the Raiders, ending the match with 26 digs.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Digs: Rivier 74, Plymouth 70

- Women's volleyball will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Norwich for a conference tri-match with the Cadets (11 AM) and St. Joseph's College (1 PM).
