Volleyball Stays Perfect in Conference Play

NEW HAVEN, CT: The Rivier women's volleyball team continues to stay perfect within GNAC play this season as they defeat both Regis College and Albertus Magnus this afternoon. The Raiders took match one versus Regis 3-1 and match two 3-0 against Albertus.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/2/2021

- Score: Rivier 3, Regis 1. Rivier 3, Albertus 0.

- Records: Albertus (2-11, 0-3 GNAC), Regis (11-4, 4-1 GNAC), Rivier (7-4, 4-0 GNAC)

GAME ONE

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Rivier took a 2-0 lead through two sets. Lily Blodget (Dunstable, MA) and Avery Pollard (Ballston Lake, NY) put on a clinic for the Raiders to help them take match one in just four sets. Blodget had her season high of 22 kills with two blocks.

-  Pollard put together her best game of the season with four kills, five service aces, and 44 assists.

- Sofia Pawlusik (Burnt Hills, NY) continues to lead the defensive effort for Rivier with 13 digs.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Kills: Rivier 52, Regis 41

-  Assists: Rivier 49, Regis 38

-  Digs: Rivier 52, Regis 41

GAME TWO

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Match two of the day was not as clean for either team as the Raiders hit percentage was just .153.

- Blodgett again finished with a match high of 13 kills and two digs. While Pollard added another 26 assists to her stats for the season.

- Olivia Garand (Litchfield, NH) tallied a match high 14 digs, two assists, and one black assist.

- Women's volleyball will be back in action Tuesday at 7:00 PM against Plymouth State in the Muldoon Center.
