Women’s Soccer Narrowly Edged at Albertus Magnus, 4-3

NASHUA, N.H.  The Rivier women's soccer team fell to Albertus Magnus in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action on Saturday at Celentano Field.

Albertus Magnus (3-3-2, 2-3-1 GNAC) took the lead in the 17th minute of the first half off a goal from Victoria Jainchill with an assist credited to Ejalam Bravo.

The Falcons helped Rivier (6-2-0, 5-1-0 GNAC) get on the board in the second half, scoring an own goal, to equalize the score. Just under three minutes apart, Albertus Magnus put away two goals to increase their lead to 3-1.

With about eleven minutes left in the contest, Riv's Emily Lizotte got ahold of the ball off a rebound and was able to find the back of the net. Jainchill followed this up with her own unassisted goal, increasing the Falcons lead to 4-2.

Lizotte recorded her second goal of the game at 86:02, to make it a one-goal difference and boost herself to the top of the Raiders' offensive charts with twelve points.

Rivier outshot Albertus Magnus, 23 to 12, while the Falcons attempted 10 corner kicks versus the Raiders' two.

Riv goalkeeper, Bri Nugent made three saves in net on the outing.

The Raiders head back to Connecticut to face Saint Joseph (Conn.) in GNAC play on Tuesday, Sept. 26, with a scheduled start time of 6:00 p.m.
