Lengthy Goals Help Women’s Soccer Shutout Buccaneers, Extend Win Streak

NASHUA, N.H. The Rivier women's soccer team earned its fourth win of the season as they glided past Mass. Maritime by a final score of 2-0 at Clean Harbors Stadium in non-conference action.

The Raiders' (4-1-0) first goal of the evening was fueled by Emily Lizotte who dribbled up center turf to effortlessly launch the ball into the net from 30 yards out with an assist from Jordan Butters at 17:32. This was Lizotte's third goal in three games.

In the second half, Butters capitalized on a free kick just in front of the sideline, burying a goal in the upper left corner, to put the Raiders up 2-0.

Raiders' goalkeepers Julia Cafferty and Bri Nugent each made imperative saves tonight to shut down the Buccaneers (0-3-0), with Cafferty earning the victory. With just over one minute to play, Nugent came out deep off her line to shut down a late Mass. Maritime chance and keep the cleansheet intact.

Riv outshot the Bucs, 10-7, and earned five corner kicks versus Mass. Maritime's two.

Rivier continues their win streak against MMA, as they clinch their third win in the series dating back to 2019.

Butters (7) and Lizotte (6) now sit atop the program's point leaders at T-1st and 2nd, respectively. Junior Kaylee Magoon also shares the top of the leaderboard with Butters, recording seven points of her own thus far.

The Raiders resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play at home on Saturday, taking on the Mariners of Mitchell College at 1:00 p.m. on Merrill Field.
