Arigo’s Three-Point Night Powers Women’s Soccer Past NEC

HENNIKER, N.H. – Behind a one-goal, one-assist night for Jillian Arigo, the Rivier women's soccer team opened up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play with a 2-1 victory over New England Col. on Wednesday night at Don Melander Field. The victory marked the first conference win since Oct. 3, 2018, and the first for first-year head coach Dan Milton.

Arigo put the Raiders out in front just 6:51 into the contest, hammering home a rebound past Stephanie Bronowicki. Exactly 26 minutes later, Kaylee Magoon would catch up to a long feed from Arigo and tap it past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net to add some much-needed insurance.

With just over 6 minutes left in the half, NEC's Chloe Beausoleil fired a free kick past Rivier keeper Bri Nugent to cut the host's deficit to just one goal at halftime. Nugent finished the half with two saves to her credit.

Coming out of the break, the Raiders would switch goalkeepers, entrusting Maya Puma with the final 45 minutes between the pipes. Puma would stop the lone shot faced in the 73rd minute to preserve the one-goal margin until the final whistle.

The Raiders outshot the Pilgrims, 21-9, including 7-3 in shots on target.

Rivier is set to continue GNAC play in a Saturday afternoon road bout with Simmons. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. from Daly Field.
