Women's Soccer Downed by Albertus 7-2

NEW HAVEN, CT: The Rivier women's soccer team was defeated by the Falcons of Albertus Magnus in conference action this afternoon by a score of 7-2.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/11/2021

- Score: Albertus 7, Rivier 2

- Records: Albertus (2-2, 1-1 GNAC), Rivier (0-3, 0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Falcons jumped out to a quick two goal lead in the first half when Katherine Raposo netted her first of three goals on the day. Then, Haley Andrews beat the Raider keeper for their second score.  

-  Rivier did respond with a goal of their own in the 26th minute of the first half. Kaylee Magoon (Loudon, NH) cut the deficit to just one with her first goal of the game. Magoon would go on to score the second Rivier goal in the second half.  

- Albertus would finish the first half with three straight uncontested goals to go up 5-1 before the half.

- The second half would consist of two more Falcon goals to give the final of 7-2.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Rivier 6, AMC 27

-  Saves: Rivier 8, AMC 1

-  Fouls: Rivier 8, AMC 11

- The Rivier women's soccer team will be back in action Tuesday when they travel down to Mass Maritime for non-conference action at 7:00 pm.
