Women’s Lacrosse Bested by Simmons

BRIGHTON, MA: The Rivier women's lacrosse team was defeated by Simmons University this evening in conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/29/22

- Score: Simmons 20, Rivier 4

- Records: Simmons (7-2, 4-1 GNAC), Rivier (2-6, 1-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Simmons quickly jumped out to an 8-0 lead behind Lauren Whitman, Abby Stoller, and Liz Krenicky's two goals each.  

- Rivier opened the second quarter with their first goal by Sarah LaChance (Chelmsford, MA). Rachel Hinkley (Swedesboro, NJ) would tack on one more for Riv just about eight minutes later. Overall, the Sharks outscored the Raiders 5-2 in the second, pushing their lead to 13-2.

- Simmons started the third on a three-goal run before Caitlin Newell (Litchfield, NH) would net her first goal of the game.

- The fourth saw a fourth goal scored by Abby Stoller, who led all scorers this evening. Rivier would put one more on the board after being down 17-3 on a man up opportunity giving Hinkley her second goal of the night.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Stoller had a game high 4 goals with 1 assist.

-  Julia Chausse and Marita Nothacker had 3 goals each for the Sharks.

-  Hinkley had the team high with 2 goals.

- Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) was tagged with the loss in net while saving 16 shots on goal.

- Rivier women's lacrosse will be back in action Saturday against Emmanuel College at 1:00 PM.
