Women’s Lacrosse Notches First Conference Win

NASHUA, NH:  The Rivier University women's lacrosse team earned their first Great Northeast Athletic Conference win this afternoon 15-11 at home. 

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/19/22

- Score: Rivier 15, Albertus Magnus 11

- Records: Rivier (3-2, 1-2 GNAC), Albertus (1-3, 0-2 GANC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Albertus Magnus came out swinging right out the gate. The Falcons dropped the first two unassisted goals three minutes into the game. 

Sarah Lachance (Chelmsford, MA) was the first to respond for the Raiders with an unassisted goal. She went on to score three more goals while Rachel Hinkley (Swedesboro, NJ) netted two before the end of the quarter. 

- The Raiders dominated the second quarter. Tara Saliany (Nashua, NH) scored in a man-up situation, and Abby Nadeau (Newbury, NH) scored during a man-down.

- The Falcons climbed back into the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Raiders 4-2. Lachance notched a couple goals to maintain the lead.  

- Rivier sealed the deal in the last quarter Caitlin Newell (Litchfield, NH) capitalized off a dish from Lachance. While Hinkley notched a couple more to extend the lead to a solid 4 goal difference by the final whistle.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Lachance led the Raiders with 8 goals and 2 assists. Hinkley added 4 goals and 1 assist.

-  Raiders goalie Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) out saved Chloe Oliver, 13-9. 

-  Saliany, Newell,  and Nadeau all tallied a goal apiece.

- Rivier women's lacrosse will be back in action next Tuesday at 7:00 PM in Northfield, Vermont, against the Cadets of Norwich University
