Women’s Lacrosse Drops Conference Opener to Elms

CHICOPEE, MA: The Rivier women's lacrosse team dropped their conference opener to GNAC newcomer Elms College.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/11/22

- Score: Elms 14, Rivier 3

- Records: Elms (2-0, 1-0 GNAC), Rivier (1-2, 0-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Elms went on a 10-0 run before the Raiders were able to notch their first goal of the contest. It came as no surprise to see Sarah LaChance (Chelmsford, MA) break the Blazers streak, netting her tenth goal of the young season. The Blazers offense was led by Elise Paier, who scored the first three goals of the game, and Elese Ciarcia, who also netted three goals in the half.

- The Second half was a much lower scoring affair for the Blazers as they only put in four in the half. Anna-Elise Pikul tallied her third goal of the game in the third quarter, while Greta Frankwicz finished on her second.

- The Raiders would put up two more in the fourth quarter. The first came from Tara Saliany (Nashua, NH) at 7:47 and Rachel Hinkley (Swedesboro, NJ) at 5:17.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Pikul, Ciarcia, and Paier all finished with three goals. Ciarcia had two assists, and Paier had one.

-  LaChance, Hinkley, and Saliany scored one goal apiece for the Raiders.

-  Emma Walsh saved 12 of the 15 shots on net, while her counterpart Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) saved 12 of 26.
