Women’s Lacrosse Downs Terriers

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier University Women's lacrosse team earned their first win against the Terriers of Thomas College in a non-conference matchup this afternoon.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/10/22

- Score: Rivier 12. Thomas 10

- Records: Rivier (1-1), Thomas (0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  It was Sarah Lachance (Chelmsford, MA) that set the tone for the Raiders in the first period tallying two goals and an assist. Rachel Hinkley (Swedesboro, NJ) and Caitlin Newell (Litchfield, NH) also contributed a goal apiece in the first leg.

- The Raiders spread the scoreline to some new faces in the second quarter. While the Terriers earned their first goal of the quarter. Lachance and Tara Saliany (Nashua, NH) responded with a goal less than a minute away from one another, and Abby Nadeau (Newbury, NH) closed the half out with her first goal of the season.

- The Terriers began to claw their way back into the game in the second half. Outscoring the Raiders 6-4. However, it was Newell's two goals that ended up separating the two teams in the end.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Lachance walked away with 5 goals and leads the Raiders in scoring with 9 goals in two games. Newell earned a hat-trick.

-  Raiders goalie Lindsey Kruger (New Bedford, MA) out-saved Lizzy Gotay 11-6 on the day.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier women's lacrosse is scheduled to take a trip down to Chicopee, Massachusetts, tomorrow for their first conference showdown against the Blazers of Elms College (1-0). The game will start at 4 PM.
