Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to MCLA in Hockey Fights Cancer Game

LOWELL, Mass. – Rivier women's ice hockey capped off the regular-season in its Hockey Fights Cancer Game on Sunday afternoon at the Tsongas Center, falling to MCLA in Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) play by a final score of 3-1.

The Raiders concluded their slate with an 11-10-3 (6-4-2 ECHA) and secured the No. 2 seed in the ECHA Playoffs while the Trailblazers finished 5-18-1 and will be the fourth seed.

MCLA scored on the powerplay in the opening minute of the contest to pull in front 1-0.

An unassisted tally by Ally Davis just 2:48 into the second put the guests up by a pair.

Tia Picardi would score a Raiders goal with 5:15 left in the second to keep it within one goal heading into the third period.

Bright Cote would strike with 2:40 left in the third to seal the Trailblazers' first ECHA win of the season.

Rivier outshot MCLA, 37-32, with Rachel Symmes making 29 stops in the setback.

The Raiders will face off against the No. 3 seeded Anna Maria in the semifinal round of the ECHA Playoffs on Friday, Feb. 23 at the Worcester Ice Center, with puck drop slated for 8:10 p.m.
