Women’s Ice Hockey Completes Weekend Sweep Over Anna Maria

NASHUA, N.H. — On Senior Day, the Rivier women's ice hockey team beat the AMCATS 5-2 in Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) action at Conway Arena, claiming both wins on the weekend.

The Raiders honored lone senior Heather McHatton for her three years of dedication and passion to the program.

Rivier moves to 10-9-3 overall and 5-3-2 in ECHA play, while Anna Maria drops to 8-11-4 overall and 5-3-2 in ECHA action.

All five of Rivier's goals were tallied by a different Raider, showing excellent effort on the ice.

Riv's Brianna Rumptz got the scoring started in the first period at 17:13 burying a slap shot, with an assist granted to Jessica Driscoll.

The Raiders went on to record three unanswered goals in the second period. Up first was Rebecca McKelvey using the power play to her advantage shoving in a goal with an assist from Jillian Hallee less than a minute into the period. Next, Briana Paxson sent Molly Dukesherer the puck from behind the net, while the AMCATS left Dukesherer wide open, giving her the opportunity to tally the third goal for the Raiders at 7:14. After a saved shot, Driscoll caught the Anna Maria goalie on the opposite pipe, giving her the chance to sneak in a goal with assists credited to Paxson and Rumptz at 12:50, increasing the Raiders lead to 4-0.

In the third period, Anna Maria totaled two goals, one earned on the power play, to cut Riv's lead to 4-2.

Rivier kept their momentum going with an unassisted empty net goal from Molly Hurley with 53 seconds left in the contest.

Anna Maria outshot River by one, 38-37.

Riv's goaltender Rachel Symmes stood tall in net, making 36 saves.
