Women’s Ice Hockey Trio Sweeps ECHA Weekly Awards

ECHA RELEASE

WORCESTER, Mass. – For the first time in the Rivier women's ice hockey program's history, a trio of Raiders swept the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) weekly awards, as Caeli ReedRachel Symmes, and Tia Picardi were honored for their efforts in a 2-0-0 weekend against MCLA.

Reed earned her first Player of the Week honors after scoring the game-winning strike in overtime in Saturday's narrow 1-0 road victory, which was also the first goal of her collegiate career.

Symmes made 27 saves in a 3-0 blanking of the Trailblazers on home ice on Friday night to earn her fourth career Goalie of the Week honors.

To earn her first Rookie of the Week nod, Picardi lit the lamp in the opening period of Friday night's victory to lift the Raiders to their second of three consecutive wins.

Rivier returns to action in a Friday night tilt against ECHA foe, Worcester St., with a 7:10 p.m. puck drop scheduled at the Worcester Ice Center.
