Women’s Ice Hockey Downed by Hosts in Opening Round of The Bagley Invitational

RUTLAND, Vt. – The Rivier women's hockey team was downed by the host Spartans in the first semifinal of The Bagley Invitational by a final score of 5-0 on Friday evening at Spartan Arena.

The Raiders fell to 4-4-3 on the season while Castleton improved to 4-5-1 overall.

The Spartans scored in the opening three minutes before striking again just 4:08 later to double their lead.

After a scoreless second stanza, Castleton netted three more goals to punch their ticket to the championship game on Saturday afternoon.

Rachel Symmes made 40 saves on 45 shots on target in the setback.

Rivier will take on the loser of the Potsdam and Colby's matchup in Saturday's consolation game at 1:00 p.m.
