Women’s Ice Hockey Falls to Worcester St.

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Rivier women's hockey team lost 7-0 in Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) play on the road against Worcester St. on Wednesday evening at the Worcester Ice Center. The Raiders fell to 3-2-2 overall with the setback and 0-1-1 in Alliance action. The Lancers gained their first league win of the season, sitting at 2-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in ECHA contests.

With only 51 seconds left in the first period, the Lancers recorded their first goal of the night to take the lead.

Worcester St. continued to score in the second, adding on three more goals, increasing their lead to 4-0.

In the third period, the Lancers tacked on another three unanswered goals to secure the victory.

The Raiders took nine shots as Rachel Symmes made 47 saves in the opposite crease over 60 minutes.

Both teams were scoreless on the powerplay as Rivier received two minutes in the penalty box on one infraction, while Worcester St. received four minutes on two minor infractions.

The Raiders return home on Tuesday, Nov. 21 where they will face off against JWU-Providence with a 7:10 PM puck drop at Conway Arena.
