Women’s Ice Hockey Ties with Worcester St.

NASHUA, N.H. The Rivier women's ice hockey team played to a 2-2 tie against Worcester St. in Eastern Collegiate Hockey Alliance (ECHA) play on Saturday night on home ice at Conway Arena. The Raiders move to 3-1-2 overall and 0-0-2 in conference, while the Lancers proceed to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1-1 in conference. 

At tonight's contest, the Raiders dedicated the game to epilepsy awareness, showing support to members of the community.  

After a scoreless first period, the Lancers' Katie Puumala capitalized on a power play opportunity 37 seconds into the period with assists credited to Fiona Hatton and Shelby Reaugh.  

With 7:22 left in the second, Riv's Margaret Smith passed up ice to Brianna Rumptz finding Jaclyn Puumala sending it right back to Rumptz who tapped in a goal, tying the score at 1-1. 

Early in the third period, Kiersten Erickson of Worcester St. forced a Raider turnover, resulting in a top-shelf unassisted goal to take the lead back. 

At 4:45 in the third, Rivier's Rebecca McKelvey stickhandled from behind the net, flicking in a goal to tie the score at 2-2 with assists from Grace Arsenault and Rumptz. 

Neither team was able to find the back of the net through the remainder of regulation or overtime, resulting in the tie. 

Rivier goaltender Rachel Symmes made 50 saves in the outing, while Worcester St.'s Lana Pacific turned aside 28 shots. 

The Raiders are back in action at Worcester St. on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Worcester Ice Center for another ECHA matchup with a 4:00 PM puck drop.
