Women’s Hockey Falls to Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY: The Rivier women's hockey team was back on the ice to finish a two-game series with Buffalo State this afternoon falling by a score of 5-2.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/8/2022

- Score: Buffalo 5, Rivier 2

- Records: Buffalo (1-11-1), Rivier (0-7-1)

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Buffalo would put up four unanswered goals. With one coming in the first by Hannah Tingley, one in the second by Rylee Garrow, and two to start the third by Kiara Haynes and Garrow once more.

- The Raiders would end their streak with two powerplay goals back-to-back. Jordyn Stock (Kenai, AK) netted the first at the 8:58 mark. Brianna Parent (St. Albans, VT) would score the last goal for RIV.

- Buffalo would tack on one more on an empty net with about a minute to go. Haynes was the beneficiary of the empty net, tallying her second goal of the game.

 INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Rachel Symmes (Chugiak, AK) was tagged with the loss in net for Rivier, compiling 42 saves.

- Shots: Buffalo 47, Rivier 20 

-  Powerplays: Rivier 2 for 5, Buffalo 0 for 3.

- Rivier women's hockey will be back on the ice Tuesday at 8 pm against Salve Regina.
