Women’s Hockey Falls in High Scoring Affair with Anna Maria

MARLBOROUGH, MA: The Rivier women's hockey team lost a late lead in the third period to Anna Maria College this evening, giving the AMCATS a 6-4 victory.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 12/3/2021

- Score: Anna Maria 6, Rivier 4

- Records: Anna Maria (2-6-1, 3-1 NEHA), Rivier (0-6, 0-3 NEHA)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS got on the board first just eight minutes into the contest off of a Riley Cote goal. Rivier would respond just over four minutes later with Margaret Dickson's (Brewster, MA) first goal of the season.

- Dickson would open up the second period with a second goal just three minutes in to give the Raiders a 2-1 lead. Jenna Stevens (Riverside, RI) would add one more in the period to boost Rivier to a two-goal lead at 3-1. Anna Maria would get one back at the 12:37 mark by way of Grace Dodge.

- The AMCATS went into the third down 3-2 and had their biggest period of the year as they racked up four goals. Cote would net her second of the game, along with Dodge. Raven Carriere would tack on another along with a powerplay goal from Sarah Sammons.

- Rivier did score in the third to go up 4-3 before Anna Maria went on a three-goal streak to get the 6-4 final. That goal was scored by Briana Paxson (Eagle River, AK).

- Rachel Symmes (Chugiak, AK) was in net for the Raiders this evening. She tallied an impressive 41 saves.

-  Penalties: Each team had 4 minutes on 2 infractions

-  Powerplays: Anna Maria 1 for 2, Rivier 0 for 2
