Women’s Hockey Falls to Spartans

CASTLETON, VT: The Rivier women's hockey team fell to Castleton University this afternoon 7-0 to close out their two game series in non-conference action.   

THE BASICS:

- Score: Castleton 7, Rivier 0

- Records: Castleton (2-0), Rivier (0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Spartans scoring was broken up into two goals in the first period, four in the second period, and one in the third. The top performer for Castleton was Courtney Gauthier, after she completed the hat trick in the second period. All three goals came in a row in a five minute span.

-  Madelyn Morgan (Riverside, CA) was in net again for the Raiders. She saw 33 shots on target, of which she saved 27.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shots: Castleton 46, Rivier 8

-  Penalties: Rivier had 6 minutes on three infractions, Castleton had 10 minutes on five infractions

-  Power Plays: Rivier was 0 for 5, Castleton was 2 for 3
