Women’s Basketball Bested by Regis (Mass.)

WESTON, Mass. – Rivier women's basketball fell to host Regis in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contest on Saturday afternoon at Higgins Court by a final score of 74-68.

The Raiders fell to 7-14 (5-6 GNAC) while the Pride improved to 7-14 (5-5 GNAC).

After trailing by one point at halftime, Lyric Grumblatt put together a 31-point second-half performance, with 22 coming in the fourth quarter, to try and boost her squad above .500 in conference play. Despite the effort, Rivier could only get as close as three points with 17 seconds remaining and ultimately dropped the contest.

Grumblatt registered four rebounds, two steals, and an assist to go along with her season-high in points. Alexa Dufries followed with 16 points as she hit 4-of-8 (50%) from deep while hauling in eight boards.

Rivier will host Trinity (Conn.) on Monday at 7:00 p.m. in its non-conference finale at the Muldoon Center. This game will be a celebration of National Girls & Women in Sports Day, and all youth athletes are invited to attend with a chance to play games, win prizes, and meet with the Rivier student-athletes after the final buzzer.
