Women’s Basketball Narrowly Falls to USJ, 79-74

NASHUA, N.H. – In the Muldoon Center on Saturday afternoon, the Rivier women's basketball team lost to Saint Joseph (Conn.) 79-74 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.

The Raiders moved to 5-10 overall, and 3-2 in GNAC competition, while the Blue Jays are now 13-3 on the season and 4-1 in GNAC matchups.

It was a battle throughout the entire contest, with the Raiders and the Blue Jays going shot for shot.

USJ's Jordan Ouellette collected a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Amanda Fudge buried 19 points and Maya Slisz followed that up with 14.

Lyric Grumblatt put up her usual double digits of 28 points along with six rebounds. Anna Stenger contributed for the Raiders tonight with 15 points. Jessica Carrier also finished one assist shy of a double-double with 13 points and nine assists.

The Blue Jays shot 51.7% from the field, while the Raiders were 41.5% on field goal attempts.

Rivier is back home on Tuesday, Jan. 16 with a GNAC contest against Anna Maria at 5:00 p.m.
