Grumblatt Breaks Single Season Scoring Record in Win Over JWU

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier women's basketball team won their seventh straight game after taking down Johnson & Wales this afternoon in conference action. Today marked senior day for the Raiders, and they celebrated Ciera Clark (Pembroke, NH) and Cydney Lessard (Auburn, NH). In addition, sophomore Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) broke the school's single-season scoring record with 635 points (628 old record).

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/19/2022

- Score: Rivier 83, JWU 59

- Records: Rivier (13-11, 9-8 GNAC), JWU (2-21, 2-15 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After just a three-point difference in the first half, the Raiders came out strong in the third quarter. They ran out to a 32-point lead by scoring 31 in the third to JWU's nine.

- Grumblatt added onto her 16 first half points, with 19 in the third quarter alone and another nine in the fourth. Lessard contributed one of her best scoring games of the season with 12 points and five rebounds.

- Peyton Oliver and Rose Hockman ran the Wildcats offense this afternoon with 36 points combined. Oliver put up a team high 21 points and eight rebounds. Hockman had 15 points and 15 rebounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Grumblatt finished with a season high 44 points along with 10 rebounds and seven steals.

-  Shotting %: Rivier 41.4, JWU 40

-  Steals: Rivier 18, JWU 4

UP NEXT:

- Rivier women's basketball looks to host the #11 seed in Anna Maria next Tuesday as the 6th seed in the first round of the GNAC tournament. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:00 PM.
