Grumblatt Drops Another 40 Point Game in Win Over Elms

CHICOPEE, MA: The Rivier women's basketball team won their fifth straight GNAC game the afternoon against GNAC newcomer Elms College.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/12/2022

- Score: Rivier 85, Elms 76

- Records: Rivier (11-11, 7-8 GNAC), Elms (10-8, 7-8 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Elms quickly jumped out to a six-point lead in the first quarter. The first half would see six lead changes before the Raiders were able to take the lead and sustain it. A big second and third quarters where Rivier scored a combined 49 points helped them reach their largest lead at the beginning of the fourth quarter at 17 points.

- Elms did, however, cut into the deficit by outscoring the Raiders in the fourth 21-18. Angelica Peguero-Flores had a great game for the Blazers, scoring 28 points and hauling in eight rebounds.

- The 28 points weren't quite enough with Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) going off for 40 points and having three teammates in double digits. Cydney Lessard (Auburn, NH), Alexa Dufries (Leicester, MA), and Hannah Muchemore (Nashua, NH) scored 11 points each. Muchemore also added 10 assists to complete the double-double.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Shooting %: Rivier 47.6, Elms 42.9 

-  Rebounds: Elms 42, Rivier 36

-  Assists: Elms 24, Rivier 21.
