Second Half Troubles See Monks Down Women’s Basketball

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier women's basketball team was defeated this evening by GNAC opponent Saint Joseph's College by a score of 74-59

THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/6/2022

- Score: SJC 74, Rivier 59

- Records: SJC (11-1, 5-0 GNAC), Rivier (4-6, 0-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders came out firing in the first half as they kept up with the Monks. They saw themselves down only four points going into the half. However, Rivier would struggle in the second half to score and maintain possession of the ball. They compiled 20 turnovers throughout the game and scored just nine points in the third quarter. They did best the Monks in the fourth, outscoring them 16-15, but with a 21 point third for St. Joe's, the damage was already done.

- The Monks Cassandra Stapelfeld paced the team with 17 points. Kaleigh Walsh was just behind her with 15 points.

- The Raiders Alexa Dufries (Leicester, MA) tied Stapelfeld with the game high of 17 points along with four steals. Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) came on late, scoring 14 points with five rebounds.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shooting %: SJC 40%, Rivier 37.3%

-  3 PT %: Rivier 31.8%, SJC 30%

-  Rebounds: SJC 39, Rivier 35
