Women’s Basketball Opens Up Conference Play with Loss to Lasell

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier women's basketball team fell this evening to conference opponent Lasell University in a neck and neck battle by a score of 72-67.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 12/2/2021

- Score: Lasell 72, Rivier 67

- Records: Lasell (2-4, 1-0 GNAC), Rivier (3-4, 0-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Neither team ended a quarter with more than a three-point advantage. Lasell, however, did come out on top in three of the four quarters with one tie. The big story this evening for the Lasers was Meg Carroll, a senior forward who dropped an impressive 28 points along with 15 rebounds. The bulk of her points (14) came in the fourth quarter to ultimately lift her team over Rivier. The Raiders could not stop her down low, and she was able to score at will.

- Juju Nealy was also feeling it for Lasell, finishing with 14 points and four assists.

- For the Raiders, Alexa Dufries (Leicester, MA) led the team with 24 points and five rebounds. Right behind her was Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH), with 23 points, five rebounds, and five steals.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Shooting %: Lasell 39.1%, Rivier 36.2%

-  3 PT %: Rivier 31%, Lasell 20%

-  FT %: Rivier 72.7%, Lasell 68.4%

- Rivier women's basketball will be back in action next Tuesday when Mount Holyoke travels up to the Muldoon Center for a 7 pm non-conference game.
