Women’s Basketball Falls to UMaine Farmington

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier women's basketball team suffered their first loss this evening to non-conference opponent UMaine Farmington on the road by a score of 70-55.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/19/2021

- Score: UMF 70, Rivier 55

- Records: UMF (3-1), Rivier (2-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The First quarter came to a close with the Beavers up six. Only three players scored for UMF. Alex Bessey led the way from off the bench with 10 points. She was followed by Mckenna Brodeur with six and Page Brown with five. The Raiders put up 15 in the quarter, with just two athletes contributing. Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) was responsible for 13 of the 15 points. Cydney Lessard (Auburn, NH) had the other two.

-  The second quarter saw both teams struggle from the field, with the Raiders shooting 21.4% and the Beavers shooting 30.8%. Bessey led all scorers in the quarter with just four points.

- UMF found their touch again in the third as they shot 60% from the field. Bessey and Grumblatt both scored seven points in the quarter to top each team.

- The fourth quarter was the worst for Rivier shooting wise as they were just 3-18 from the field for a 16.7 shooting percentage. Grumblatt tallied six more to top all scorers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Grumblatt continues to outscore everyone on the court, along with completing a double-double with 28 points and 10 rebounds.

-  Bessey had a team high for the Beavers with 21 points, five boards, and three assists.

-  Shooting %: UMF 45.6%, Rivier 31.6%

- 3 PT %: UMF 26.7%, Rivier 18.2%

- FT %: UMF 66.7%, Rivier 62.5%
