Women’s Basketball Wins Season Opener

NASHUA, NH: The River women's basketball team took down non-conference opponent Fisher College this evening in the Muldoon Center by a score of 77-70.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/10/2021

- Score: Rivier 77, Fisher 70

- Records: Rivier (1-0), Fisher (1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The first quarter saw the Raiders go 7-19 from the field and 4-8 from beyond the arc. Their three-point shooting was good enough to give them a seven-point lead going into the second quarter. Alexa Dufries (Leicester, MA) was almost perfect from three-point territory finishing the quarter 3-4 with nine points. The Falcons were all involved in the quarter, with Misha O'Neal and Madison Kelley getting the team highs of four points each.

-  The second quarter saw Fisher continue to shoot at a high rate from the field, ending with a 66.7% field goal percentage. This would help the Falcons tie for the quarter as both teams scored 19 points each. Lyric Grumblatt (Manchester, NH) had the high in the second with seven points. The Falcons Alexia Mason had a huge quarter scoring 12 of the team's 19 points.

- The third saw Fisher close the gap even more as they outscored the Raiders 16-14. O'Neal found it again for the visiting squad scoring another six points. Jessica Carrier (Manchester, NH) put up the best numbers for Rivier with five points while coming off the bench.

- Overall, the fourth was the best shooting wise for the home team. Finishing the quarter at an even 50% from the field. O'Neal again led the offense for Fisher with another 10 points in the quarter before she fouled out of the contest. Grumblatt found her touch again in the fourth, scoring eight points on 3-5 shooting.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Misha O'Neal had a game high 27 points with 12 rebounds.

-  Grumblatt had the team high for the Raiders with 20 points and six steals.

-  Dufries also posted a great night with 18 points and four steals.

- Shooting Percentage: Fisher 53.7, Rivier 39.1.

- 3 PT Percentage: Rivier 50%, Fisher 42.9%

- Free Throws: Rivier 80%, Fisher 50%
