Berube Named GNAC Pitcher and Rookie of the Week
WINTHROP, Mass. – Rivier softball first-year right-hander Hailey Berube was honored as the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Pitcher and Rookie of the Week following her two appearances over the weekend, the conference office announced Monday afternoon.
Berube made a relief appearance in Saturday's rubber match at home against Anna Maria in which she struck out six AMCATS batters and allowed no runs over 5.1 innings of work.
On Sunday, she got the nod in game two at Simmons and used the opportunity to toss her first collegiate complete-game shutout to help the Raiders down the Sharks for the first time since 2017. Berube allowed just two hits, no runs, and one walk and sat down eight Sharks batters by way of the K.
Berube and her squad will head to Norwich on Wednesday, April 22 in a GNAC North doubleheader slated to begin at 3:00 p.m.
