Softball Swept by Simmons

BRIGHTON, MA: The Rivier softball team fell to Simmons University this afternoon in GNAC play.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/30/22

- Score: Simmons 8, Rivier 0, G2 Simmons 9, Rivier 1.

- Records: Simmons (24-11-1, 14-2 GNAC), Rivier (13-24-5-11 GNAC)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Maddie Castigliego would go on to no hit the Raiders in the mercy five inning game. She would walk three and compile nine strikeouts.

- Jordyn Rubin and Emily Barbella would pick up two RBIs, with Rubin going 2-for-3 and Barbella going 1-for-2.  

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Castigliego would continue in the circle for the Sharks. In game two she gave up five hits with just four strikeouts.

-  Allie Mulhern would be a perfect 3-for-3 on the day, finishing a double shy of the cycle. She also scored three runs and drove in two. Rubin picked up another hit along with two more RBIs. Sam Barr would also contribute a hit with two RBIs.

Sarah McCluskey (Lowell, MA) would drive in the only Raider run on her one hit. Courtney Marioles (Hudson, NH) would go perfect in game two, picking up three hits in her three at bats.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier softball will enter the play in round of the GNAC tournament against Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday at 4:00 PM. This round is a single elimination so it will only consist of one contest.
