Softball Sweeps Elms

CHICOPEE, MA: The Rivier softball team swept the Blazers of Elms College this afternoon in GNAC play.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/23/22

- Score: Rivier 7, Elms 4. G2 Rivier 9, Elms 0.

- Records: Rivier (3-24, 2-12 GNAC), Elms (7-17, 2-12 GNAC)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Nicole Verrette (Haverhill, MA) picked another win for the Raiders in the circle after pitching all seven innings, giving up six hits, and striking out five.

- Katerina St. Angelo (Johnston, RI) topped the Raiders offense with two hits in her three at bats, along with batting in three Rivier runs. Kayla Miles (Londonderry, NH) was right behing her with two RBIs after going 2-for-4.

- Josie Cammarata was 2-for-3 in game one. With her two hits, she pushed across three of her teams four runs.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Sydney Greeno (Shirley, MA) was the winning pitcher in game two for the Raiders after pitching all six innings, allowing just two hits with five strikeouts.

-  Miles and Amanda Atkinson (Mason, NH) both had two RBIs to lift the Raiders over the hosting Blazers. Miles had a great day at the play picking up three more hits in game two, while Atkinson had one. Micayla Bourski (Pawtucket, RI) was a perfect 3-for-3 in game two with one RBI.

-  Courtney Schwark and Mackenzie Alvarado had the only hits for Elms in the ball game.

- Rivier softball will be back in action tomorrow when they take on Albertus Magnus in New Haven, Connecticut, at 1 and 3 pm.
