Softball Sweeps AMCATS

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier softball team took down Anna Maria college this evening in both conference matchups.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/6/22

- Score: Rivier 4, Anna Maria 0. G2 Rivier 9, Anna Maria 1 (5 innings)

- Records: Rivier (6-14, 3-3 GNAC), Anna Maria (8-14, 2-4 GNAC)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Sarah Frazier (Londonderry, MH) continues to rake at the plate picking up another RBI in the bottom of the first on a single. Josie Maggiore (North Hampton, NH) would plate Frazier right after on a single to center field.  

- The last two runs of the game were also by the Raiders to give them the 4-0 victory came in the bottom of the third on a Katerina St. Angelo (Johnston, RI) single to left field.  

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Nicole Verrette (Haverhill, MA) pitched the shutout going all seven innings allowing just five hits and striking out six.

-  Frazier was perfect on the day, going 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.

-  St. Angelo was 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders jumped on top in the bottom of the second inning on a Courtney Marioles single to center field that plated one.

- The AMCATS would tie the game up at 1-1 in the top of the third on a Saylor Costa single up the middle.

- Rivier would then score in the next three innings, starting in the bottom of the third with a Maggiore flyout that would result in a throwing error allowing a run to come across. Marioles would then add one more RBI to her day with a double to left field.

- The bottom of the fourth saw three more Raider runs come across to make the game 6-1. Those runs scored on just one hit by Frazier, who doubled to left center.

- The Raiders would end it in the fifth inning on a walk RBI by Alyssa Gerardi (Manchester, NH) followed by a Nicole Capra (Windham, NH) double to left field that plated two more to make it 9-1 and reach the run rule.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Sydney Greeno (Shirley, MA) picked up her second win of the season on five innings pitched, where she allowed just four hits and had three strikeouts.

- Marioles was perfect in game two, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs

- Frazier was 1-for-2 with three RBIs.

- Capra finished the game with her only hit in two at bats that tallied two RBIs.

- Rivier softball is scheduled to play again Saturday at home against Emmanuel College at 1 and 3 PM.
