Softball Swept by Gordon

WENHAM. MA: The Rivier softball team fell in both games this afternoon to non-conference opponent Gordon College.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/26/22

- Score: Gordon 13, Rivier 2. G2 Gordon 9, Rivier 0.

- Records: Gordon (7-6-1), Rivier (1-9)

GAME ONE:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Fighting Scots didn't waste any time getting the lead. They put together ten hits in the bottom of the first, pushing eight across.  

- The Raiders would get one back in the top of the second on a Micayla Bourski (Pawtucket, RI) single up the middle.

- Gordon would tack on four more between the third (3) and the fourth (1). Rivier would put one more on the board before succumbing to the run rule. Nicole Capra (Windham, NH) singled up the middle that caused a throwing error by the Scots to score their second and final run.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Lily Rivera would lead all hitters with 4 RBIs on a 2-for-4 day.

-  Isabella Rivera racked up 3 hits with 4 at bats with 2 RBIs.

-  Amanda Atkinson (Mason, NH) finished with a team high 2 hits for the Raiders.

GAME TWO:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Sierra Ricci would pitch all six innings for Gordon, allowing just three hits, with five strikeouts in a shutout effort.

- The fourth inning was the biggest for the Fighting Scots as they put up a four-spot. Two runs came across on an Isabella Rivera single to left field, and the other two came on an error by the Raider defense.

- The Scots would add three more in the fifth and the final two in the sixth.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Isabella Rivera ended the game going 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

- Atkinson again led the Raiders offense with a solid 2-for03 performance.

- Rivier softball is right back at it tomorrow against Northern Vermont Lyndon at home on Raider Diamond at 1:00 and 3:00 PM.
