Men’s Volleyball Season Ends in GNAC Semifinals

NEWTON, MA: The Rivier men's volleyball team fell this evening in the GNAC Semifinal round of the 2022 tournament.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/7/22

- Score: Lasell 3, Rivier 1. Sets 23-25, 25-22, 25-27, 18-25.

- Records: Lasell (22-7), Rivier (17-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders topped the Lasers Statistically in all major categories. Rivier finished with more kills (57 to 48), assists (51 to 46), and Digs (39 to 30), but the difference on the night was the play at the net for Lasell. The Raiders tallied seven blocks while the Lasers posted 28 blocks on the night. That difference allowed Lasell to give up a high number of kills but also gather more on blocks.

- Rivier bolstered their season kill numbers outhitting the Lasers in every set but the last. The Raiders finished the first set with 17 kills to Lasell's 15, the second with 17 kills compared to the Lasers eight, the third set with 16 to their 15, and the fourth seven to their ten.

- The senior trio did everything they could for Rivier, with Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) posting 47 assists, Davis Smith (Clinton, OH) finishing with a match high 19 kills, and Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, MA) finishing with 16 kills.

-  Ly had 16 kills and four digs as well.

-  Campos had 47 assists, five kills, and five digs.
