Men’s Volleyball Takes down Emerson on Senior Day

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's volleyball team took down Emerson College this evening on senior night in conference action. The Raiders celebrated six seniors this evening. Pedro Campos (Downey, CA), Jack Hromada (Burnt Hills, NY), Jack Normandin (Clifton Park, NY), Ernesto Montes (Huntington Park, CA), and David Smith (Clinton, OH).

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/31/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Emerson 0: Sets (25-17, 25-10, 25-18)

- Records: Rivier (15-8, 12-2 GNAC), Emerson (3-17, 2-10 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders came out swinging this evening, outkilling the Lions 37 to 22. They also played clean volleyball with only ten errors on the night. The first set consisted of Rivier putting down 11 attempts for a .474 percentage. Emerson tallied nine kills with seven errors.

- The second set was dominated by Smith, both on the offensive side and serving. He ended the set with five service aces, giving him a match high.

- The third and final set was more aces by the Raiders, who tallied 11 in the match. Hromanda  and Ly helped keep the Lions most productive set at a minimum with a combined 13 digs (Hromada 6, Ly 7). Emerson put together their first double digit kills with ten. However, Riv would also have their best hitting set of the night with 14 kills.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Smith had a game high 15 kills with 5 aces.

-  Campos dished out 27 assists.

-  Neiko Pittman had 9 kills for Emerson to lead the team.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier will end the regular season with a tri-match against Regis College and Wentworth. They will take on Wentworth at 12 PM, with Regis coming at 2 PM.
