Volleyball Downs Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, NH: The Rivier men's volleyball team took down Colby-Sawyer this evening in three straight sets to improve their conference record to 11-2.   

THE BASICS: 

Date: 3/29/22 

Score: Rivier 3, Colby-Sawyer 0: Sets (25-16, 25-10, 25-19) 

Records: Rivier (14-8, 11-2 GNAC), Colby-Sawyer (4-16, 1-10 GNAC) 

HOW IT HAPPENED: 

-  The Raiders only improved as the night went on. They started off by hitting .400 in set one tallying 13 kills to the Chargers 5. Rivier's offense was led by senior David Smith (Clinton, OH) and Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, MA), who combined for 27 of the team's 44 kills. 

- The second set was another dominant performance by the Raiders, ending the set with an impressive .591 hitting percentage with 15 kills to Colby-Sawyers 6. 

- The Chargers found it offensively in the third set, finishing with 13 kills, but the Raiders had their highest output of the night with 16 kills with just three errors. Orlando Plagata was the go to option for the Chargers, finishing with nine kills. 

- Defensively, the Raiders were led by setter Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) with seven digs. Campos also tallied 26 assists along with seven kills. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

-  Smith finished with 16 kills with a .560 hitting percentage. 

-  Ly had 11 kills along with 5 digs. 

-  Raiders out dug the Chargers 26 to 15.

- Rivier volleyball team will be back in action Thursday evening for their senior day against Emerson at 7:00 pm in the Muldoon.
