Men’s Volleyball Wins 10th Straight

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's volleyball team took down both Lasell University and Emmanuel College today in a GNAC tri-match.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/19/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Lasell 1, Emmanuel 0: Sets G1 (25-19, 26-24, 21-25, 25-15). G2 (25-21, 25-12, 25-17)

- Records: Rivier (11-6, 9-1 GNAC), Lasell (13-7, 7-2 GNAC), Emmanuel (10-9, 4-4 GNAC)

GAME ONE: LASELL

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders were very consistent throughout the first match. They finished with ten kills in sets one, two, and three before having their best set in the fourth to win with 13 kills for a .400 hitting percentage.

- Lasell struggled to find an offense finishing with nine kills in the first and fourth sets, with 11 in the second. The Lasers had their best performance in set three, where they broke out for 16 kills and a .314 hitting percentage.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Jordan Shinaut finished with the game high in kills with 18 with just five errors for a .406 hitting percentage.  

David Smith (Clinton, OH) had a team high 15 kills along with seven digs and four aces.

Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) racked up 42 assists in game one.

- Jack Hromada (Burnt Hills, NY) had a game high 13 digs.

GAME TWO: EMMANUEL

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a close first set, the Raiders took off in the following two sets. Both teams ended the first with 11 kills, each with the difference coming in errors on the Saint side.

-  Rivier Picked up the offense and tallied 15 kills in both the second and third sets. The second was their best, with the 15 kills and just one error for an impressive .609 hitting percentage. Emmanuel could only muster seven kills in the second and none in the third.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Smith had a match high 14 kills and 10 digs.

Sokunbuth Ly (Lowell, MA) had 11 kills of his own along with six digs.

-  Campos finished with another 34 assists with two kills and eight digs.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier men's volleyball will be back next Tuesday against Nichols College in the Muldoon at 7:00 PM.
