Smith Leads Men’s Volleyball Over Elms

CHICOPEE, MA: The Rivier men's volleyball team picked up win number eight in a row this evening after taking down Elms College in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/17/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Elms 0: Sets (25-18, 25-15, 25-22)

- Records: Rivier (9-6, 7-1 GNAC), Elms (7-12, 3-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders came out swinging this evening. Through the first set, Rivier finished with 17 kills with just two errors. Elms ended with 13 kills and six errors.

- Rivier went off in the second set ending with 19 kills and one error for a .750 hitting percentage. Elms cooled off and only tallied ten kills.

- The third and final set was closer between the two teams, with Riv committing seven errors for their lowest hitting percentage of the night at .200. They did still outkill the Blazers 13 to nine.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

David Smith (Clinton, OH) finished with a match high 19 kills with just one error and a .750 hitting percentage.

Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) racked up 41 assists along with one kill and five digs.

-  Carlos Mercado was the Blazers top performer with 15 kills and three digs.

UP NEXT:

- Rivier men's volleyball will be back in action this Saturday in the Muldoon against Lasell and Emmanuel. The Raiders will take on Lasell at 11:00 AM and Emmanuel at 3:00 PM.
