Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Emerson 3-0

BOSTON, MA: The Rivier men's volleyball team took down Emerson College this evening to improve to 3-1 in conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/18/22

- Score: Rivier 3, Emerson 0: Sets 25-20, 25-22, 25-21

- Records:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Each set this evening was closely contested by the Lions. The Raiders offense, however, made all the difference. Overall, Rivier had 36 kills to Emersons 29. Set one finished with the Lions having the kill advantage (11-9) but racked up nine errors giving the Raiders all they needed to finish on top.

- Set two had a much higher output for Rivier on the offensive side as they racked up 13 kills to an Emerson nine.

- With a 2-0 lead, the Raiders finished the match with their best offensive set to pick up the win. Riv tallied 14 kills, with a hitting percentage of .214. Emerson finished the set with nine kills.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

David Smith (Clinton, OH) had the match high in kills with 16, adding another match high in service aces with 4.

Ethan Soltis (Massillon, OH) added 10 more kills along with 4 blocks.

Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) finished with 33 assists and 4 digs.

- Neiko Pittman had a team high 11 kills on the evening.

- Rivier men's volleyball will be back in action Friday the 25th at Eastern Nazarene for a 7 pm match.
