SPRINGFIELD, MA: The Rivier men's volleyball team fell to #6 Stevens and #1 Springfield this evening in non-conference action.
THE BASICS:
- Date: 2/12/2022
- Score: Stevens 3, Rivier 0; Set scores (23-25, 19-25, 22-25). Springfield 3, Rivier 0; Sets (15-25, 12-25, 16-25).
- Records: Springfield (10-0), Stevens (10-1), Rivier (1-6)
Match One: Stevens
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Raiders put together three competitive sets against an excellent team in Stevens. They finished each set with 11 kills, led by David Smith (Clinton, OH), who finished with a match high 10 kills and three blocks. Pedro Campos (Downey, CA) dished out another match high 27 assists to go with his four kills.
- Jack Fyda and Nathan Lancia both had a team high six kills. Daniel Perun helped facilitate the offense with 19 assists.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Kills: Stevens 37, Rivier 33
- Assists: Steens 37, Rivier 33
- Digs: Stevens 19, Rivier 16.
Match Two: Springfield
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Rivier struggled to find an offensive groove, with Springfield shutting down 13 attempts via the block. Smith continued to be the go-to for the Raiders offense, finishing with seven kills. Campos added 11 more assists to his stat line for the night.
- Springfield put together two solid sets in the first and second, racking up 27 kills. Their best set was the second, where they had 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .650. Chris Parker led the way with nine kills. Matt Lilley had 27 assists and three digs.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Kills: Springfield 32, Rivier 17
- Assists: Springfield 31, Rivier 16
- Digs: Springfield 19, Rivier 14.
