Antonelli and Ward Earn GNAC Men’s Soccer All-Conference Recognition
WINTHROP, Mass. – Rivier men's soccer graduate captain Chris Antonelli and first year Mitchell Ward were each named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Third Team All-Conference for their efforts on the pitch in 2023. Additionally, Antonelli was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team and Ward was dubbed a member of the All-Rookie Team to add to their resumes.
In his final collegiate campaign, Antonelli was the primary leader of the Raiders' defensive unit, starting in all 17 games, while also scoring one goal. Rivier used four different goalkeepers on the year, with Antonelli being a constant figure to bring communication and solid play in front of the keepers, which motivated all other teammates around him.
Ward made a big splash in his first season with the Raiders, starting in 10 of 17 games played. He netted three goals on 23 shots while tacking on three assists, finishing with nine points in his rookie season.
Rivier will look to build off this success for the 2024 season.
