Men’s Soccer Falls to Norwich on Team Impact Day

NASHUA, N.H. - Rivier men's soccer dropped a 2-1 decision to Norwich in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Saturday evening on Team Impact Day at Merrill Field. Rivier fell to (1-5-4, 1-4-3 GNAC), while the Cadets advanced to 2-2-5 (2-1-4 GNAC).

The Raiders acknowledged Team Impact teammate Bryan Dunn pre-game, honoring his dedication to the men's soccer program and his commitment to Rivier University.

Cody Sicard found Mitchell Ward who then escaped the Norwich defenders to fire a shot past goalkeeper Nicolas Lanza, giving the Raiders the 1-0 lead with just over 21 minutes into the first half.

The Cadets earned a free kick in the 27th minute, in which Nathan Statires launched a goal past Rivier keeper Sean Seeley to tie the score.

Just two minutes into the second half, Norwich's Kam Jorgenson sent a cross into the box, Aiden Dwyer settled the pass and Statires booted the ball in for his second goal of the game, giving the visitors a 2-1 edge, which would hold until the end of regulation.

Seeley of the Raiders received his first start in net of the season, recording five saves.

Riv and Norwich each took four corner kicks on the outing.
