Men’s Soccer Stumbles to Norwich

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's soccer team was shut out by Norwich University this evening in conference action by a score of 3-0 on Joanne Merrill Field.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 10/20/2021

- Score: Norwich 3, Rivier 0

- Records: Norwich (12-2, 9-1 GNAC), Rivier (3-11, 1-9 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders were able to stave off the potent Cadet offense through the first half. Norwich tallied plenty of shots through the half but never got a clean look through the solid Riv defense.

-  The second half, however, is where the Raiders couldn't hold off any longer. Norwich was able to put up three goals in the half, starting in the 57th minute when Albert Baraka broke the 0-0 tie with a solid left foot from outside the 18. Amerle Nemeye netted the second score in the 64th minute directly from a corner kick. Joseph Thongsythavong ended the evening scoring in the 76th minute of the game.

- Raider keeper Dominic Cunha (Peabody, MA) saw 12 shots tonight, where he saved nine of them.

-  Corner Kicks: Norwich 8, Rivier 0

- Rivier will be back on the field Saturday for their senior day, starting at 11 AM against Regis College.
