Men’s Soccer Takes Home their First Win of the Season

NEWTON, MA: The Rivier men's soccer team opened up Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play this afternoon against Lasell University and found themselves victorious 3-2.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/15/2021

- Score: Rivier 3, Lasell 2

- Records: Rivier (1-1, 1-0 GNAC), Lasell (0-4, 0-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Raiders found the back of the net just under 20 minutes into the first half to take a 1-0 lead after freshmen Hayden Bilodeau (Windham, ME) scored his first collegiate goal.  

-  Rivier would put the home team down by two 38:50 into the contest after junior Chris Antonelli (Commack, NY) beat the Laser keeper.

- Lasell would cut the deficit down to just one at the start of the second half when Jake Ouellette tallied his first of two goals on the day.

- Rivier would net the game winner in the 83rd minute off the foot of Freshman Ryan Hadouche (Nashua, NH). This goal was Hadouche's first collegiate score and game winner after the Lasers were able to find the back of the net one more time. Ouellette tallied his second goal of the game just one minute later to get the final of 3-2.

-  Fouls: Lasell 11, Rivier 9

- The Rivier men's soccer team will be back in action this Saturday when they face GNAC newcomer Elms College at 1:00 PM.
