Men's Soccer Falls Short to Emmanuel in Season Opener

BOSTON, MA: The Rivier men's soccer team opened their season this afternoon against GNAC opponent Emmanuel College. The Raiders were unable to fend off the Saints falling 2-0.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/11/2021

- Score: Emmanuel 2, Rivier 0

- Records: Emmanuel (3-1, 1-0 GNAC), Rivier (0-1, 0-1 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Saints were able to find the back of the net once in each half against the Raiders. Their first goal came just seven minutes into the contest, with the second coming two minutes into the second half. Alec Erskine was just one goal shy of the hat trick with two goals in the contest.

-  Walaeddine Hounane (Salem, MA) led the Raiders in shots with three and one on goal.

- Dominic Cunha (Peabody, MA) made the start in goal this afternoon. He faced seven shots on goal, making five saves.
