Men’s Lacrosse Bests Albertus Magnus

NEW HAVEN, CT: The Rivier men's lacrosse team took down another GNAC opponent this afternoon. They bested Albertus Magnus by a score of 18-4.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 4-9-22

- Score: Rivier 18, AMC 4

- Records: Rivier (9-2, 4-1 GNAC), AMC (5-7, 1-5 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After the Falcons got on the board first on an Andrew Ten goal, the Raiders would go on an 8-0 with six coming in the first quarter. The first was highlighted by Michael Ference (Salem, NH), scoring two of the Raiders six goals.

- The second quarter was again all Rivier, who outscored Albertus 4-1 to make the score 10-2 going into the break. Ference again netted two more for Riv, giving him an even four goals before the half. Andrew Luzzi would score the Falcons lone goal in the quarter.

- The third saw the Raiders put up five more goals to Albertus' one. Coby Mercier (Boscawen, NH) netted his third goal of the day. Chris Heitmiller (Nashua, NH) and Nicholas Tavares (Danvers, MA) both scored their second goals. For Albertus, Jayme Toro scored their third goal of the game.

- Heitmiller and Sawyer Hall (Windham, NH) opened up the fourth quarter putting the score at 17-3 Riv. The Falcons Cody Walczak would finish the scoring for the team with their fourth goal of the day. Rivier would close out the game with one more from Connor McGuire (Sagamore Beach, MA).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Ference led all scorers with 4 goals and 3 assists.

-  Hall and Heitmiller both had 3 goals. Hall added two assists to his stat line.  

-  The Raiders defense forced 32 turnovers by the falcons compared to just 18 for themselves.

- Rivier men's lacrosse will be back in action Wednesday against Norwich University on Joanne Merrill Field at 7 pm.
