Men’s Lacrosse Topples Regis 14-1

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's lacrosse team took down Regis College this evening in conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/30/22

- Score: Rivier 14, Regis 1

- Records: Rivier (6-2, 2-1 GNAC), Regis (2-6, 0-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Raiders quickly got the scoring started 42 seconds into the game when Michael Ference (Salem, NH) ripped a shot past the Prides goalie. Two minutes later, Jeffery Potter (N. Bennington, VT) would go one on one with a Regis defender and beat him to the crease to put Rivier up 2-0. The Pride would net their only goal at the 7:21 mark of the first quarter on a quick transition move by Connor Deveau. The quarter would wrap up with a second Ference score and Connor Eck's (Franklin, MA) first of four tallies.

- Rivier would tack on five more in the second to give them the 9-1 advantage going into the break. Chris Heitmiller (Nashua, NH) would start it off on a man-up opportunity. Eck, Coby Mercier (Boscawen, NH), and Ference would follow. The last goal of the quarter would come from Nicholas Tavares (Danvers, MA).

- The last of Rivier's goals came in the third quarter to push their lead to 14-1. The quarter opened with two quick man-up goals, first from Eck and the second from Potter. Eck would score another shortly after to get to his four goals on the day. Trevor Reilly (Newington, CT) and Connor McGuire (Sagamore Beach, MA) would net the last two goals of the day, giving the Raiders a 14-1 victory.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Sam Tibbets (Gray, ME) would come in the contest and save one with no goals allowed.

-  Eck led all scorers with 4 goals.

-  Ference would follow with 3 goals along with 4 ground balls.

- Rivier men's lacrosse will be back in action this Saturday when they travel to Maine Maritime for a 12:00 PM start.
