Men’s Lacrosse Slips Past Emmanuel

BOSTON, MA: The Rivier men's lacrosse team picked up another win against Emmanuel College this evening in conference action.  

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/23/22

- Score: Rivier 10, Emmanuel 9

- Records: Rivier (5-1, 1-0 GNAC), Emmanuel (1-4, 0-2 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  After a back and forth start to the first quarter putting the score at 2-2, Rivier would go on a three-goal run to give them a 5-2 lead. Jeffery Potter (N. Bennington, VT) would find the back of the net three times in the first for the Raiders. Coby Mercier (Boscawen, NH), Michael Zapatka (Newington, CT), and Michael Ference (Salem, NH) would net the others. Ryan Castle would score all three goals in the first for the Saints giving them an early 6-3 deficit.

- The second quarter saw the Raiders extend their lead by outscoring Emmanuel 3-1 to get the score to 9-4 going into the break. Sawyer Hall (Windham, NH) started the scoring for Riv, followed by Ference for his second and then Connor Eck (Franklin, MA). Aiden Sullivan would score the Saints only goal in the second quarter.

- The Saints would play a huge second half cutting a five-point deficit to just one. They would go on to outscore the Raiders in the second half 5-1. Eck's second goal of the game in the third quarter lifted the Raiders over the Saints by the one-point margin. Castle would go on to score his fourth and fifth goals of the game for Emmanuel, along with Colin Dickinson (2 goals in the second half) and Robert Favuzza.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Castle led all scorers with 5 goals.

-  Potter let the Raiders with 3 goals.

Sawyer Gagnon (Gorham, ME) had a 14 save night to gain him his fifth win of the season.
