Men's Lacrosse Blows Past Lyndon 20-3

NASHUA, NH: The Rivier men's lacrosse team earned their second win at home against the Hornets of Northern Vermont-Lyndon this evening in non-conference action.

THE BASICS:

- Date: 3/11/22

- Score: Rivier 20, NVU-L 3

- Records: Rivier (2-1), NVU-L (0-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The first half was all Rivier University as they dropped 12 goals on the Hornets. Connor Eck (Franklin, MA) opened the scoreline just two minutes in. Eck went on to score two more goals while Mike Zapatka (Newington, CT) contributed three goals by the end of the first quarter. 

- The Raiders continued their tear through the second and third, outscoring Lyndon 7-2. 

- The fourth quarter saw three freshmen who notched the first goals of their careers. Nicholas Tavares (Danvers, MA), Trever Reilly (Newington, CT), and Oscar Wolfe (Westfield, MA) each had a goal apiece.

- The Raiders showcased all three of their goalies. Sawyer Gagnon (Gorham, ME) started for the Raiders and collected two saves, Samuel Tibbetts (Gray, ME) collected one, and Ryan Palmer (Nashua, NH) with three saves this evening.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Zapatka scored a team high 6 goals and collected 2 assists.   

- The Raiders went 21-22 on face-offs and 17-17 in clearance attempts 

- The Raiders also outshot the Hornets 62-17.

- Rivier men's lacrosse will be back in action at home Wednesday, March 16th at 7 PM against Mass. Maritime.
