Three Rivier Men’s Ice Hockey Players Named to All-Independent Teams

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Three members of the Rivier men's ice hockey program were honored with Division III All-Independent Awards following a program-best 10-12-3 regular-season.

Forward Damon Kiyawasew was honored as a member of the Second Team and All-Rookie Team after posting a team-best 19 points (7-12-19) over 23 games in his first collegiate season. Two of his seven goals were game-winners, coming in the Castleton Invite Championship and in a 6-0 shutout over Nichols in which he notched the first two goals.

Joining him on the second team was junior defender Tyler Duderstadt who protected the blue line in all 25 games this season. The Sewickley, Pa. native posted 12 points (3-9-12) while blocking 36 shots in the campaign.

Also making his way onto the All-Rookie Team was first-year forward Liam Hennessy. Hennessy was the leading goal scorer for the Raiders in 2023-24 with 10 goals. He also added eight assists to sit at 18 points, second-best on the squad. He scored the game-winning goal in a 4-2 victory at Franklin Pierce on Nov. 28.

This was the final independent season for the Raiders who will transition into the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) in 2024-25.
